What is “11 Chickens”?
It started as our sons 1st Grade class project to incubate some chicken eggs until they hatched. After the baby chicks were born, they were up for grabs for any of the school kids to keep, raise, and experience. Guess how many chickens we decided to take home?
Are you seriously raising these chickens?
Absolutely, Yes! We have decided to start this project and to share our family journey to raise chickens, produce eggs and enjoy a new learning experience.
Are chickens good with children?
Yes, chickens can be wonderful pets for kids, teaching responsibility and offering companionship.
How often will you be updating your chicken journey?
Our plan is to continue to build on to this website and blog to include everything we learn and experience from raising chickens in real-time. Obviously, our normal life style, routines and schedules may not always allow for us to update this info daily. However, one of our goals is to make this space not only an ongoing timeline of our experience, but to catalog our chicken journey to share and hopefully inspire other families to do the same.
